I reformatted my old laptop and am now running Windows 7. I'm really liking it so far - very clean, very pretty, very Mac-like. It was time I took everything back to square one on this machine anyway and I feel a lot more organized.
In other news, my dog, Masha, continues to grow at an amazing rate. She's 6 months old and 50 pounds, and in need of some serious training. We did the puppy class thing but she's so beyond it, in good and bad ways. I have to do these dominance exercises with her everyday to make sure she trusts me and knows I'm in charge. Things like rolling her onto her stomach (which she likes anyway) and these "ownership" exercises. She has some bad habits that we need to break soon or she'll be an unpredictable 90+ German shepherd in no time.
I always have to remind myself that she's young, and a good dog at heart. She just... has a lot to learn.
In the mean time, dog training has become a big hobby of mine. Currently Cody and I are training her for tracking. She's a natural, of course, and I'm already amazed at her ability to pick up on the slightest scent trail. Part of this involves playing hide and seek with her, which is a blast. I'm also training her to do fun things like know left from right, weave through my legs, stand on a chair, and targeting to get her ready for
agility when she turns a year old this July.
Finally: I need a job. I have to go into school tomorrow and confess that I really have no way to pay for this quarter... or the next... the joys of college.
